Kristen and Kevin met in college and years later here we are celebrating their engagement at Sayen House & Gardens. Spring is one of my favorite seasons for engagement sessions because the flowers are blooming and everything is much more vibrant. Hint, hint… which means for stunning photo opportunities. When Kevin and Kristen first inquired with me, they made it clear of their vision. Light, clean and airy… I think I’ve got it covered. Their Spring engagement photos at Sayen House & Gardens were that straight out of a Nicholas Spark’s romance novel and I was obsessing every minute of it.

Sayen House & Gardens | Hamilton Township, NJ

The Sayen House & Gardens is a gorgeous outdoor space in Hamilton Township, New Jersey. It sits on a stunning 30 acres of land where surrounding you are plants and flowers from all around the world. The original designer of this garden. Frederick Sayen decided to take plants that he collected on his world travels and plant them all throughout the gardens. Many species from Japan, China, and parts of England can be found in these beautiful gardens today! It brings this outdoor garden space to life and definitely makes it incredibly unique for it being nestled in New Jersey.

One of the many reasons so many people absolutely love this location is due to the wide variety of flora and greenery here. You can find flourishing rhododendrons, heirloom azaleas, dogwoods, and more. The variety makes it a beautiful sight in person as well as in photos. Along with the fantastic gardens themselves, you will find walking trails, fish ponds, and gazebos throughout the property. Making it one of my favorite engagement spots in New Jersey and a must-see place. There is also the Sayen House on the property which is perfect for receptions, and other events.

Tips For Your Sayen House & Gardens Engagement

Before making the trip to Sayen House & Gardens, here are a few tips you should know!

• Sayen House & Gardens is open from dawn to dusk, every day
• Admission into Sayen House & Gardens is free
• Dogs are permitted in the park on a leash, however, they are not allowed inside the Sayen House
• Riding bikes in the garden are permitted

Kristen + Kevin’s Sayen House & Gardens Spring Engagement

For Kristen and Kevin’s New Jersey engagement, they made it clear that they had a specific vision. They were envisioning their engagement photos like a fairytale dream. Incorporating elements such as pastels, tons of florals and keeping things very bright and clean. Sayen House & Gardens was the perfect location for their New Jersey engagement photos. It incorporates a lot of those bright florals that Kevin and Kristen were looking for that in the end photographed beautifully.

One thing about any type of professional photography is lighting. Lighting is the key to making everything look cohesive and perfect. So trying to get the perfect lighting in your images takes time and work but the end result is worth it. In this case, and in many cases actually, sunset is the best time to shoot. There is no harsh lighting and it gets a bit softer which gave us that dreamy look to all of their engagement photos.

It was a beautiful evening celebrating Kevin and Kristen and I can’t wait to further continue their story next year at their wedding at Renault Winery!
