Skylands Manor Engagement in Ringwood, New Jersey

Skylands Manor Engagement in Ringwood, New Jersey

Kayla and Eric first met during their Freshman year in high school. Over the years, their relationship continued to flourish and now they are tying the knot! When it came time to start planning their engagement session they wanted to keep things elegant and romantic. Especially to match their wedding theme! Their Skylands Manor Engagement in New Jersey was the perfect location for their engagement photos. With the stunning architecture of the manor and beautiful greenery and woodlands, it was the perfect spot for their New Jersey engagement photos.

Skylands Manor | Ringwood, New Jersey

Skylands Manor is a gorgeous historic manor inside the New Jersey State Botanical Gardens in Ringwood State Park. While the property itself has been passed on since the mid-1800s, the Skyland’s Manor that you see today was constructed in early 1922. The landscapers of Skylands Manor included the same individuals who designed Rockefeller Center, the grounds of Princeton University, and the National Gallery of Art. It’s because of this that Skylands Manor holds a ton of historical and architectural significance. It also means that it is absolutely beautiful, but that’s a given.

Surrounding the manor is 100 acres of formal botanical gardens within the 1,000 acres of natural woodlands. With top-tier greenery and florals throughout the property, it makes it a perfect engagement session location. Especially for Kayla and Eric’s Spring engagement photos.

If you’re looking to have a Skylands Manor Engagement in Ringwood, New Jersey you will be required to purchase a permit. The permit fee for NJ residents is $150 while for non-NJ residents it’s $200. This permit allows for photos to be taken anywhere inside the park/gardens.

Kayla + Eric’s Skylands Manor Engagement

It was important for Kayla and Eric to have their Skylands Manor engagement follow a consistent theme to match the rest of their wedding ideas. I always typically suggest doing this, especially if you’re planning on using your engagement photos for other wedding pieces. This can include your guest book, save-the-dates, your wedding website, prints, etc. Knowing this, we made sure to incorporate a lot of greenery in their photos while still giving a romantic and timeless feel to their photos. Kayla and Eric also brought along their two pups which made for some great additions to their engagement photos.

Tip: Make sure you have a backup plan for your pups if they do end up coming to your engagement session. You want to be able to have some solo portraits of just you and your partner. So bringing along a friend or family member to watch your pup(s) will be a good option!

It was a beautiful day celebrating Kayla and Eric’s engagement at Skylands Manor in Ringwood, New Jersey. Their love radiated and it was obvious that their spark from all of those years never dimmed. I can’t wait to continue documenting their story next May at Valley Regency.
