I’m a Philadelphia wedding photographer who gets to travel all around the world to capture your love stories. Rachel and Spencer took me to Deep River, Connecticut to celebrate their Connecticut Wedding at The Lace Factory and it was utter beauty. From gorgeous detailings to an unbreakable love and bond, this entire day was a dream come true.

The Lace Factory | Deep River, Connecticut

The Lace Factory is a wedding venue located in Deep River, Connecticut. On the edge of the Connecticut River, The Lace Factory was originally built back in 1875. It has become an established landmark within Deep River and now boasts one of the most beautiful and unique event spaces in Connecticut. Spanning over 6,000 square feet, this Connecticut wedding venue brings together a modern look with an industrial feel. One of the biggest aspects of this Connecticut Wedding Venue is the access to the Essex Steam Train right alongside the venue. The Essex Steam Train is actually a working mode of transportation and was what many of the guests used for Rachel and Spencer’s wedding.

Rachel and Spencer chose The Lace Factory for their wedding seeing that it “felt different than typical wedding venues you see in Connecticut”. They fell in love with the modern look and all of the natural light that came in through the abundance of windows throughout the space. It was an easy choice for the two of them and was a good choice, indeed.

Rachel & Spencer’s Connecticut Wedding at The Lace Factory

For Rachel and Spencer, if they could describe their dream wedding day in three words it would be family, excitement, and dreamy. I am happy to report, that their special day embodied exactly that. We started off like any wedding day, with the bride and groom-to-be getting ready. Rachel and her bridesmaids in The Lace Factory bridal suite while Spencer is at his and Rachel’s home.

Their wedding day consisted of a bohemian modern touch with nude, terracotta, rust, green, and white tones. They really wanted their wedding day to be simple and modern so sticking with a fairly neutral color palette was key to this. One of my favorite things about their wedding day was how much intentionality and attention to detail that went into even the tiniest of moments. It first started with the robe that Rachel was wearing while getting ready. It was her mother’s wedding dress that had been repurposed into her getting-ready loungewear. The engagement ring that fits snugly on her finger was her maternal grandmother’s who passed back in 2007.

Ceremony & Reception

It didn’t stop there though. After getting ready and sharing a beautiful first-look moment, Rachel and Spencer made their way to the ceremony. It was here that Spencer’s father would be singing and playing the guitar during their ceremony. It was just this added touch that brought tears to my eyes and made this day even more special for Rachel and Spencer.

The reception space at The Lace Factory was beyond immaculate as well. With white sheer cloth draping the ceiling, windows covering every inch, and stunning decor this area took my breath away. I couldn’t stop taking detail photos but that’s okay, I’m not mad at it. It was a special night celebrated with a cake cutting, first dance moments, and sneaking the newlyweds for some final night portraits before packing up my bags. You know it was a successful wedding day when you feel it in your legs and toes and let me tell you, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
