A Romantic Love Story Leading to a Princeton University Spring Engagement

Josie and DJ are the perfect example of how opposites attract. She’s bubbly, extroverted, and always ready for the next adventure. DJ, on the other hand, is quieter, thoughtful, and steady—but together, they’re the best team.

Their favorite date nights are a mix of cozy evenings at home, testing out new recipes from their many cookbooks, or heading out for a nice dinner. As long as they’re in bed early to catch the next day’s adventure, they’re happy.

Favorite Memories Before Their Princeton University Engagement Session

When I asked about their favorite memory together, Josie didn’t hesitate—canoeing in Cypress Gardens in South Carolina. DJ picked Charleston as their favorite trip so far.

They love country music when they’re together, with Josie mixing in her love for tropical house. One of their favorite bonding moments was belting out “Shallow” from A Star Is Born at the top of their lungs. Honestly, how could you not fall in love after that?

A Proposal to Remember at Sayen House and Gardens

Their proposal felt straight out of a romantic movie. On DJ’s birthday—June 22, 2024—they spent the day at the beach, grabbed ice cream during a summer rainstorm, and even picked the paint color for their home. Josie thought she was just getting dressed for a nice dinner—DJ even chose her outfit. But instead, he drove them to Sayen Gardens.

On the white bridge, surrounded by soft summer light, DJ got down on one knee. His brother and sister-in-law hid in the bushes, cameras ready, capturing the entire moment. Afterward, they celebrated at Estia, their favorite Greek restaurant, and later gathered with family for an engagement celebration.
